In Blog 6 I talked about getting a blowout (what, you missed that? You better read/listen to Blog 6, finding the sweet spot). As it turned out that blowout required not only a new tube but a new tire to be put on the bike.
A new high pressure road bike tire can be a little difficult to put on the rim as it is very stiff and barely fits, it gets easier after the tire is worn in a bit but the first go round is challenging. I like to do it with just my hands, forgoing the use of tire wrenches to avoid any damage to my carbon rims or the inner tube.
My wife was watching as I was struggling to get the tire on the rim. She asked if I needed help. I said no as I have always been able to do it myself. I should note this was a new style of tire I had purchased that was more durable. We ride a tandem which is hard on tires just like Teslas, and for the same reason, lots of weight. So I want the strongest, lightest tires available.
I continued to struggle as she watched. Finally I turned to her and asked for her help. We got the tire on in a few seconds. It turns out for this task four hands is much better than two. Then same can hold true for improving your health
As you seek to do so you will find that you can make more progress and be more consistent with the help and support of others. Now I might have gotten the tire on eventually, maybe not but I know for sure I got it on quickly with help. Why waste time and effort when someone is willing to help you?
I was excited to get that tire on, and so was my wife. We shared the triumphant moment just like friends will share triumphant moments with you. You are not burdening them but giving them the opportunity to feel the joy of helping someone they care about to improve their health and sharing in the happiness that it brings.
Now ask yourself who could help you right now in your quest to improve your health and how can they help? Ask them, you and they will both be glad you did. Four hands are better than two.
